John Carlos grew up in a family with political figures, including his late grandfather who was a New York State Supreme Court Justice. John Carlos has worked on several election campaigns, and has served as a political consultant and lobbyist for a local organization in his hometown of Rochester, New York. John Carlos received his first taste of reality when he moved from his home in 2000. He couldn’t understand how a society could allow the vast majority of Americans to struggle from paycheck to paycheck just to clothe and feed their families, and since then he has used his political upbringing to use on behalf of working class Americans.

John Carlos is the Chair of the MEC Government Affairs Committee. From time to time, there are issues which we cannot resolve with airline management through the means of the various committees, such as the Air Safety, Health, and Security Committee , Grievance Committee, or even the Negotiations Committee. Just like us, airline management relies on Congress for assistance from time to time. Pressure from members of Congress can force the airlines to cede to our needs. If that fails, legislation to be written into law is drafted. If legislation passes, the airlines no longer have the option to ignore our needs, as it would violate federal regulations.
