Trip Trades With Open Time Card I

(Section 8.I),

Q: When does Trip Trade with Open Time start each month?

A: Trip Trade with Open Time starts at noon 48 hours AFTER the Open Time windows closes. (In other words, Trip Trade with Open Time starts at noon 10 days after the close of bids.)

Q: Is TTOT available for every day of the month?

A: No. Because TTOT does not open until ten days after the close of the bids and a TTOT request must be received 3 DAYS prior to the EARLIEST start date of the two sequences, there are a few days at the beginning of each month which are unavailable for TTOT. (The specific days vary from month to month.)

Q: I just saw a trip for tomorrow that I would really like to have. Can I Trip Trade with Open Time for it?

A: No. The TTOT request must be received at least 3 days prior to the earliest start day of the two sequences.

Q: Can I trip trade my sequence at the first of the month for one at the end of the month?

A: Yes, PROVIDED that both trips start and end in the same bid month and staffing is adequate to cover the dates of the sequence you are trading away.

Q: My trip trade was denied due to staffing, but I was trading away a two day trip and picking up a four day trip. Wouldn’t that help staffing?

A: It depends on the days in question. Each request is unique. Staffing is evaluated for each of the days of the trip being traded away. If any of the days being traded away have inadequate staffing, the trip trade will be denied.

Q: I submitted a Trip Trade with Open Time and the sequence I requested went to someone junior to me. How did that happen?

A: Trip Trades are awarded on a “First Come/First Processed” basis by the actual time the request is received.

Q: Can I trade for a trip at another base?

A: No. Section 8.I.1.a. of the collective bargaining agreement restricts Trip Trades with Open Time to Open Time within your base.

Q: I had 3 Trip Trades approved earlier this month. Now, I really need to trade for a different Sequence. The reply I received said I only get 3 TTOT’s a month.

A: Per the contract, TTOT is limited to 3 per bid month until the system is automated.

Q: I have Position 1 on my sequence. I see that Position 2 is open. Can I trade positions? Does it count as a Trip Trade toward my limit of 3 per month?

A: Yes. Submit the request as any other Trip Trade but it does count toward the limit of 3 per month.
