Contract Tour: The JIC Committee

As you all know, the MEC Officers and MEC Committee Chairs have been touring all of the bases since the beginning of the year to introduce themselves and answer your questions about the implementation of the new contract. The tour has been timely and highly successful as we have been able to address and get clarification on how the various sections of the contract are being implemented by your input.

According to a side-letter in the contract, we have implemented the JIC (Joint Implementation Committee). Their goal is to ensure the contract is being followed and implemented the way it was intended to. AFA and company representatives have been meeting since the beginning of the year. Our team includes Veronica Tenerelli (MEC President); Diana Kishaba (AFA Negotiating Team); Armando Ramos (AFA Council 49 President); Debora Sutor (Chair-MEC Grievance Committee); Richard Wrede (AFA Senior Staff Attorney).

Some of the issues they have covered are:

·          Section 8.K.5.f. – Use of Reserves Before Extending Flight Attendant

·          Revised JIC Sideletter

·          30.G. Reimbursement for Calls to Scheduling

·          8.J.5. Open Time Make Up

·          Section 7.E.2.c.

·          Reserves on Voluntary Junior Man List

·          Seniority List on Bid Package

·          Automated TTOT

·          Are Requests for OT Processed Before or After TTOT Requests

·          Language to Section 4 For Reserve Flight Attendants Picking Up OT

·          Preference for RAP

·          2 Hour Call Out

·          7 Day Conflict Over Transition

Thanks to your feed-back they have been able to correct and clarify many issues. Please continue to keep us informed if you feel your contract is being violated so we can address the issues in the JIC meetings.

If you have an incident where you feel the new contract has been violated, please print out all information regarding the incident (i.e. HI1, HI3, etc.) and contact a Union Rep. as soon as possible.

For more information and results of the issues above and others to be addressed, go to our JIC Report link on our website at http://www.afaeagle.org/jic.htm .

In Unity,

Your AFA-CWA MEC, MEC Committee Chairs, and JIC
