three: How to Use Chart is explained on Page two.
Use of Flight Times
Must "look back." At any given
moment, look back over the past 24 hours. (Note: It may be
necessary to "look back" from tomorrow. The look back does not deal
only with time already flown.)
1. If total amount of time
actually flown, or time actually flown added to time scheduled to
be flown is less than 8:00, apply top box.
2. If total amount of time
actually flown, or time actually flown added to time scheduled to be
flown is 8:00 to 8:59, apply second box.
3. If total actually flown,
or time actually flown added to time scheduled to be flown is 9:00+,
apply third box.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR FLIGHT
ATTENDANTS:
Flight Attendants do NOT have 8
in 24 protection prohibiting a flight attendant from being scheduled
for more than eight hours flight time within a twenty-four hour
period. However, based on “me-too” rest with the pilots, a flight
attendant who flies more than 8 hours in a twenty-four hour period
in actual operation must be given pilot compensatory rest of either
11:00 or 12:00.
If the situation arises where a
flight attendant will be flying more than 8:00 in actual operation
during any twenty-four hour period preceding the completion of a
flight, the company has two choices. Eagle can either extend the
rest period to provide the flight attendant the required
compensatory pilot rest of 11:00 or 12:00, thus delaying the flight
departure following the rest, or Eagle can remove the flight
attendant from the flight(s) and have her/him replaced. While this
may appear to be what is commonly referred to as “8 in 24” by Crew
Scheduling, in reality, it is not.
In sum, a flight attendant may
fly more than 8:00 in a twenty-four hour period so long as
appropriate rest time is provided. Again, the company may comply
with this requirement merely by removing the flight attendant from a
flight or flights.
