ABOUT YOUR FUTURE???
During these times while the company is in the midst of
significant change, it may seem as if everything that has
been stable is now falling apart. You may feel that you are
completely alone in your struggle with your future and where
it may lead, even though you know your fellow coworkers are
facing the same issues.
It is important for you to know that you have support from
your union, The Association of Flight Attendants. The
Employee Assistance Program Committee wants to support the
Flight Attendant group in making the best decision possible
for each individual during these uncertain times. For those
not familiar with our committee, we are able to assist you
in numerous ways. Most may have heard of our committee in
relation to a medical or aircraft emergency. We also handle
professional standards issues with all work groups. We can
assist in day to day personal struggles whether
financial/legal, emotional/psychological, family
relationship, medical/health, stress, substance abuse etc.
Please keep in mind that we are completely confidential and
do not share any information about those who speak with us.
At this time when things are so up and down with the
company, you may experience any one or all of these types of
situations. You EAP committee members are just a phone call
away and will help guide you through any of these problems
or any others you may encounter.

DOT
Drug Testing Info
AFA-CWA members, as well as all other safety professionals
in the transportation industry, are subject to federally
mandated and regulated drug testing, commonly called “DOT”
drug testing. The document bellow is AFA-CWA’s Flight
Attendant’s Rights and Responsibilities for DOT Drug
Testing. You can download it by using Adobe Reader. If your
computer does not have Adobe Reader, you can download Adobe
Reader free at
www.adobe.com
.
This booklet answers basic questions about DOT testing. It
is important to remember that employers may have their own
company drug testing program which may vary from and be in
addition to DOT testing. The information contained in this
booklet does not cover your Company policy. American Eagle’s
drug and alcohol policy and procedures can be accessed by
logging on to Jetnet, click on Policies and Procedures, then
click on the Quick Link to Drug & Alcohol Policy.
You are strongly encouraged to review your company’s policy.
Violation of your airline’s rules may lead to disciplinary
action. You may also be permanently barred from working as a
flight attendant if you violate the DOT testing standards.
DOT alcohol testing began in January 1995 after it was
mandated by Congress. It is important to note that this
pamphlet does not cover alcohol testing. Information
regarding DOT alcohol testing is discussed in a separate
booklet.
Please review the information contained in this pamphlet. If
you have any questions regarding your airline’s drug testing
program, policies and procedures, call your local AFA
leaders. If you have any questions about DOT testing
regulations or a concern about drug use, you are invited to
call the International AFA EAP Department at 800-424-2406.
All of your questions and concerns will be confidential.
