MEC VICE PRESIDENT:

Carl Gautreaux
cgautreaux@sprynet.com
I have been a Flight
Attendant for American Eagle
for 19 years. I have held
many Union positions
starting with the first
Legislative Chair when I was
based in DFW. Since then I
have been MEC Webmaster, MEC
Vice President, MEC
President, MEC Info-Rep
Chair and I have been based
in Abilene, (way back) DFW,
ORD, LGA, and four months of
TDY in MIA.
I am now based in LAX and
currently serving as your
MEC Vice President. As you
can see I've been active
with AFA for quite some time
and was part of the
Organization Committee to
vote AFA in on our property
when we were four separate
American Eagle carriers.
Before I began serving the
Union I was Manager of
In-flight Training for
American Eagle so I have
worked on both sides of the
fence and know how each
operates.
Since the Union has been at
American Eagle we have had
MANY positive improvements
to our work-life. For
example, part of the Flight
Attendant's duties use to
include catering your
aircraft. Back then we were
"salaried" employees so we
got a base salary and the
company could fly you
whenever they wanted. My how
times have changed!
I want to take this time to
welcome ALL American Eagle
Flight Attendants. Whether
you are "old school" like me
or come from another airline
like AA or TWA, or just
beginning your career as a
Flight Attendant, we are all
in this TOGETHER and we all
need to nurture and
appreciate what each of us
can bring to the table to
make our work-life here the
best it can be. I encourage
all of you to volunteer
because our strength is in
our numbers. Volunteer, go
to Local and MEC meetings,
be involved because when you
look back on your career
here you can say I was not
only a Flight Attendant, but
I helped in making being a
Flight Attendant a respected
and appreciated profession.
Welcome Aboard!
In Unity,
Carl Gautreaux
